WHY DONATE YOUR CAR
There are many reasons why donating your vehicle is a great choice! You have the opportunity to help the following small local nonprofits:
You can help the American Horse Rescue and Sanctuary rescue horses from neglect and abuse.
You can help the Mobility and Durable Medical Equipment Association help people in your community who are in need of medical equipment, such as wheelchairs and walkers, but are unable to rent or purchase that equipment.
You can help the Fauna Foundation rescue cats and dogs from neglect and abuse.
Please consider donating a car, truck, RV, ATV, or motorcycle to the Donated Vehicle Foundation. We accept most vehicles as long as they meet the following criteria:
GET THE MOST TAX BENEFIT FOR YOUR VEHICLE
Donating your car or vehicle to charity can be a great way to get a federal tax deduction (state income tax deductibility depends on state law). If you would like to help local nonprofits and get the maximum tax deduction, then please call us at 310- 326- 3604.
IRS RULES REGARDING VEHICLE DONATIONS
In January 2005, the IRS put into effect new tax rules to assist donors in determining the value of the vehicle being donated.
The IRS Allows Taxpayers To Claim A Charitable Tax Deduction As Follows:
If the donated vehicle is sold for less than $500, you can claim the fair market value of your vehicle up to $500 or the amount it is sold for if less than fair market value.
If the donated vehicle sells for more than $500, you can claim the exact amount for which the vehicle is sold.
For any vehicle sold for more than $500, the exact amount it is sold for will be stated on the donation receipt we will send you.
HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK?
Tell us about your car
It takes a few minutes to donate your car by calling 310- 326- 3604. We’ll take some basic information about your car, including the year, make, model and condition.
Schedule a pickup time
We will schedule a local towing company to pick up the vehicle at a mutually convenient time. We will need keys and signed title, if you have it. We will provide you with a temporary receipt as confirmation of your donation pickup.
Tax receipt
We will place your car for sale on our local auction sales lot. We want to make sure that your car is sold for the best price possible. This may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks. After it is sold, we will email or mail you the tax deductible receipt.
